Hi guys, sorry if this appears to be a silly question, but I can't find any information on winterising a 2.8d Mercruiser.

I have looked in the workshop manual, and can't find any reference to draining the coolant systems, either closed loop, or sea/fresh water for anything other than maintenance of components. I wasn't sure if due to the anti freeze within the closed loop system it would be necessary to drain for the cold weather?

Oh, and just to add, I am based in Scotland, and it's been minus 1 degree the last couple of mornings!! The boat hasn't frozen, but obviously want to keep it that way! Haha.

Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,.... Ya oughta atleast Test the antifreeze in it, to see if the mix is sufficient for the temps expected,...

Ya gotta drain any raw water from the system, the heat exchanger usually has a drain plug,...

If ya got P/Steerin',..?? it's got a Cooler on the raw water line, just pull off either of the Big hoses,...

If ya got a motor mounted raw water pump, it, 'n it's raw water lines will need drainin',...
poppin' off the in-comin' line from the pump might be enough, but I can't see what ya got,...

Thanks for the reply. I'll check the anti freeze tomorrow, and it sounds basically like I just need to pull a few of the hoses on the raw water system here and there to get as much out as poss.
