Winterization of A/C & Hot /Cold Water

Need help with doing the winterization on my own boat for both A/C and running water. Any tips or suggestions for a first time boater? I have a 2003 Chaparral Cruiser w/ 320 Volvo Penta. I'll have the mechanic perform the engine and stern. Its got about 59 hours. I'm sure alot of you have excellent suggestions and I'm all open ears. Thanks for your advice.

You asked this same question back on Sept 2 and I answered expecting you might come back with additional questions but you never did and now your back with the exact same question which makes me feel like I wasted my time with the first one. (sorry for the vent)

Ditto on what Bob said on Sept. 2nd reply. Or you could use a compressor and blow the lines out.<br />Or take a look at www.boatered.com or www.boatfix.com forums for additional responses and a winterization check list.

Running water is simple.Turn all faucets on full hot and cold,keep pressure pump running,when only air comes out close them all up and put at least 3 gallons of the nontoxic anti for water systems in the fill.Go around to each faucet with a small pail and open the faucets 1 at a time and catch the pink antif.Let it run until it is only pink antifreeze coming out.Do this on all faucets.Whatever you catch in the pail,put back in the fill.I have read that it is correct to leave the faucets open when in winter storage.I have always put enough pink antif. in to keep it pressurized and prefer to do it that way.10 years without any problems. Sorry to Boatin Bob and MAbbott. As a new boat owner I've had so many things on my mind and apoligize if I forgot to write down your response.Owning a boat has been fun however there's alot to get to know and I don't want to screw up. It appears that winterization of the running water I will do however the A/c maybe more difficult. The mechanic will charge inly $40 for the A/c so I'm sure that its probably not that difficult. Thanks again for your help and sorry for the mix up.

DBenja4148....obviously it's your choice but it costs me a jug of RV antifreeze ($3.00) to winterize A/C. Normally the A/C raw water pump is NOT self priming so they install these low in the boat actually below the water line so that as soon as you crack open the seacock water goes to the pump. Anyway I just take the hose off the seacock (make sure seacock is closed if boat is still in water)and put in a funnel and pour the antifreeze in, turn on the A/C and wait for the pink stuff to come out the thru hull, have done it this way for several years with no problems....good luck!
