I work at the lowes near my house in the plumbing area. There was a guy in there tonight that was looking for a spigot for a large tank that he has. The old spigot was brass and was all wore out and leaked. What the guy was doing was filling this tank with a non-corrosive anti-freeze. He had it all hooked up so there was a 3-way gate valve and he would run the motor off the hose like normal with the muffs, then once the engine warmed up and the t-stats opened he could switch the gate valve and the anti-freeze would flow to the muffs and into the motor cooling passage. I started thinking about it and im sure there is water trapped somewhere in my powerhead that wont come out even when i take the t-stats off and tilt up and down a bunch of times. Is this something that people do? Just wondering if i should be worried about it. It seems like a good thing to do but ive never heard about it before. What are some thoughts on this? By the way it was a outboard the guy had not an i/o.
