I did the best I could with online searches and forums. Most advice was about checking the transom and stringers and floors for rot, compression test, bellows, test drive, etc, but honestly there wasn't a lot when looking at a 30 year old boat. I got it for well below market price. I do know the motor was rebuilt and has a different block than it was originally sold with. There is no place for a mechanical fuel pump anymore, and I had a bit of an issue with dealing with that mess this year. I bought it from a guy who had limited knowledge of the boat as he had only owned it a few years and bought it from his cousin who owned it a few years before that. Our budget was low (we wanted to pay cash), and this one fit right in it. You live and learn I guess. I will look for similar markings on the block. At least I have a winter to decide if I want to dump $300+ on manifolds next season..
