Wire gauge over gauge

I wanted to put in my nav lights.

Here's my problem.. My boat is a budget boat rebuild. So I budget so much money from my paycheck and that's it.

Problem I have is I ran out of my budget for this check and I need wire.
The only wire I have is 12 gauge and 14 gauge Solid core wire.

Is this too much wire?

Wait until your next paycheck and put in stranded wire.

The wire gauge is not the problem. Solid wire is.

X2!

Only proper marine grade wire, stranded and tinned...

And don't buy the stranded crap from HD! Go here, genuinedealz..., excellent prices on good wire...

Went to the hardware store, Couldn't find any double wire. But I did find the tinned stranded wire. 6 bucks for 25 feet, had to buy 2 roll of different color wire.
