Hi,
I am new to boats and this forum. We bought a used pontoon boat with a Force 70 HP motor. We are in process of remodelling this boat. The only thing that worked on the old console was the trim and steering wheel. As we tore out the old console we found a slug of wires that were not hooked up to anything. I was hoping that someone here could shed some light at the color code. The shop manual isn't helping and we are trying to prevent tracing all these wires. We assume most of these wires are for gauges?

There are 2 sets of wires:

1 set comes from the throttle box that is mounted on the play pen. There are 4 wires: purple, orange, black and blue/red.

The other set comes in from the motor:
6 wires are attached to a 6 gang plug; black, red, white/black stripe, gray/black stripe, pink & gray/black
There is also a black tube that comes from the motor...???

Any clues to this mess would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

Re: Wiring Console

The black tube that comes from the motor is for water pressure guage. black is ground. red is power. orange is heat. white/black is for trim. Gray/black is for trim. dont know about pink gray and black. as for the wires coming from the throttle box they are usually connected to a bus port and then have a temperature alarm connected to the red and orange cables.
