wiring harness 1984 50 evinrude

My old wiring harness has completely rotted! Only an inch from the connector remains good enough to add on to. Can anyone give me the right color connections. It has seven wires and need to know where each color goes. Thanks for any help! Steve

Forget that! Buy a new harness and save yourself future headaches.

i was able to get a full diagram for the wiring of my dash from the boat manufacturer. i would try there and see what you get. i have a tracker and when i called them they e-mailed me an adobe file with the intire wiring diagram.<br />GOOD LUCK<br />MAR T

I THINK THERE'S A STANDARD COLOR SCEME FOR THESE WIRES YOU KNOW LIKE RED+ BLK- ORG, HOT THERE'S A COLOR CHART FOR THESE THING I THINK BUT CECK THE BOAT MAKER FIRST THEY MITE HAVE IT <br />GOOD LUCK<br />MAR T

sorry about that!! bubbakat! I'm still trying to figure out how to post and reply! hahahaha The harness is on the engine. It has 7 wires they are for the starting circuit. I know that 3 go to the silenoid and the rest go to a termination block. When I asked a dealer, all they will tell me is to bring in! I guess I'm just to tight to pay them for something that I can do myself. Steve

I want to know each place, each color hooks-up to.There are 7 colors.

Are you talking about the ones in the big red plug on the side of the motor or running in different places on the motor?

YES! The red plug!! It has something to do with the starting. 2 I've figured out. 2 or 3 go the the silenoid I know, but I don't know which color. My old wires were so rotted that the colors were pretty much faded. Thanks!
