Wiring on Trim Soleniod

I purchased my boat at the end of last season and went to bring it out of the garage to do some work on it but the trim would not go up (with either trim up or trailer up).

I jumped the solenoid which worked - then I cleaned all the solenoid connections but it still wouldn't go up so I replaced the soleniod.

Now with the replaced solenoid ONLY trailer up works (trim up / down doesn't work).

I thought I kept the wiring as it was . . .I have attached a picture of the wiring with the new solenoid. Does anyone know if I made an error in wiring or if I might have another problem?

The picture is not very clear to make out . . so:
Small top posts:
left : black wire and small blue wire
right: black wire

Large front posts:
top: blue wire
bottom: red wire

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Scott

Sorry- guess that would help. Its a 4.3 Mercruiser inboard with an alpha one outdrive on a 1993 chaparral 1800 SL

Ayuh,... The Trim Limit Switch, mounted on the outdrive is broken....
It can't be by-passed inside the transom where the wires come through...

Bond-o - thanks for taking the time to reply. I checked the connections on the new solenoid (up) and now both trailer up AND trim up is working.

Trim down is not working though. I read online that the trim limit switch does not affect trim down - only up. If this is the case (not sure) and trim UP is working is it possible the problem is with the down solenoid?

A little puzzled that before replacing the up solenoidtrim downwas working but not trim up OR trailer up but now I have the reverse problem.

Ayuh,.. Might just be 1 of those movin' Gremilins,...
You've been workin' on it, movin' wires around,..
A broken or corroded wire or connection might make 1 minute,+ break the next...

Good Luck chasin' it..

I would check that all connections are corrosion free and tight. Then check the wires for breaks or pinches. I had a problem last year that my trim would not go down sometimes. It turned out to be a wire break at the lanyard.
