New problem, when i turn the ignition switch to start the starter spins but does not "move" up to turn the flywheel. Would that be a problem with the starter itself or the top part that turns the flywheel?

It could be low voltage to the starter, corrosion on the starter's shaft preventing the Bendix gear from moving, or a faulty starter.

I'll check the pinion gear tomorrow. I borrowed the neighbors manual and think I figured out how it works.
