Well this year my wife and I are going to cook Duck for Thanksgiving due to the fact we are having a 2d dinner at the in-laws on the following Sunday. We really did not need to have two full Turkey dinners in less than a week....Tryptophan overdose!!! A deep deep sleep or worse!

Incidently.... Tryptophan has been implicated as a possible cause of schizophrenia in people who cannot metabolize it properly. When improperly metabolized it creates a waste product in the brain which is toxic and causes hallucinations and delusions.

I have been intrigued by Turducken... ... does anyone do that and if so, some opinions. Seems labor intensive and costly is we order one prepared. We are interested in trying it ay a future date.

In the past we have tried deep fried turkey ... it was okay but was a great deal of work not to mention the mess on our friends patio.... I think that area still repels water! ;)

Bob & Jenn

Hi

I have done "turkey au vin" in a dutch oven before. Simply fell of the bone, really good.

We tend to do all our xmas turkeys on the rotisserie. I have a small battery operated unit that works a treat. I use self basting turkey's and stuff them with a pork sausage and bread crumb stuffing. It always produces moist good tasting birds.

I seen a chef do Turducken on TV and always wanted to try it but never have. Maybe I can scale it down and do a duckenish (Duck Chicken Cornish hen)

Malto Mario also does a stuffed boneless turkey that sounds good.

Turducken You should google it. It is a chicken inside a duck inside a turkey with layers of stuffing. Very labor intensive but sounds interesting. I have been looking at the cajun ones.

We had Turducken last Thanksgiving at my house. They are expensive but at INCREDIBLE. If you like stuffing as much as I do, you can't go wrong with three kinds in one bird......I will see if I can find some thanksgiving pics of the Turducken

Very impressive!!!! (as per Jennifer my wife) [here is where Bob gets up and tells Jenn to do her own typing ;) ] Jenn asks: Did you do it yourself? If you did how hard was the deboning process? Or did you have the butcher do it? Or where did you order the turducken if you got it ready-made? And lastly, if you don't mind saying, how expensive is "expensive"? It ends up being pretty much all edible so that helps with the value end of it I suppose.

Jennifer :)
