I have a 1975 70 hp johnson, took it out last night after rebuilding carbs and full fuel line change. Boat runs fine upto 1/2 throttle then bogs and shuts down, took lid off and started cruising ran throttle from engine then played with choke and ran great. should the choke solenoid be controlling choke flaps with throttle.
or am i missing something.

Nitro
Not sure what you are asking. As far as I know, the choke butterfly is controlled only by the solenoid and the manual knob. It should act independent of the throttle/advance linkage. Maybe others have first hand knowledge.
Good luck

You missed something in the carb rebuild.

Choke solenoid only controls choke plate. If you got WOT by closing the choke plate all the way or just a little, then SoLittle is right, your carb cleaning and overhaul came up short.

You need to clarify "played with choke" a little.

Fuel tank vent open? Air leaks in new fuel line fitting attachments? Weak fuel pump? Did it behave this way before the rebuild? What symptom did the engine have that made you decide to rebuild the carbs? Did you actually rebuild the carbs, or simply clean them and use the same old parts in the reassembly process?
