Hello,
I have a 2007 Tahoe Q6 with a V6 MerCruiser that I think is having battery or solenoid problems. I had the dealer replace the solenoid in the 2nd season and I have never replaced the battery. I am currently getting close to the end of the thrid season owning this brand new boat.
Here is exactly what played out at the dock:
1) I did not prime the throttle before cranking.
2) I turned the key over and the engine started trying to crank but I could quickly hear the battery dying, so I immediately turned the key back off. Yes, it was that sound you hate to hear!!!
3) I sat for about 10 seconds and turned the key again - only a single "click". The engine did not turn over this time.
4) I then repeated this key turning about 7 times in succession and only a single click with each turn of the key.
5) The guys at the dock brought over a small battery jump box which pushed the volts up over 12v, same single clicking. I also tried this with priming the throttle 3-4 times.
6) While keeping the battery jump box on, we tapped the top of the solenoid with a screwdriver and tried again- same single clicking.
7) checked the fuses, they looked fine.
8) I removed all the battery cables and let sit for 5 minutes, put them back on and same single clicking.
9) There was also a red reset button above the solenoid which we tried.
I'm getting ready to just buy a new battery and solenoid to see if that will do it.
Thanks for any help,
Nate - Nashville.
