Re: Won't Start

Yamaha outboard on Grady White (~1989)

Unable to start motor. There appears to be no power to engine (i.e., no starter turnover, no tilt function). Also, volt meter without any detectable power. Have charged battery and other electronics working well. Main accessory fuse panel OK. Kill switch seems OK too.

Is there another fuse/fuse panel/switch that could be the problem along the motor circuit?

Thanks.

There is normally a 20A fuse in the engine harness. Follow the positive battery cable into the engine. Where it connects on the starter solenoid should be another smaller (normally red) wire. Follow that red wire and you should find the fuse holder.

My apologies to Peter J as this forum thing is new to me (first timer). My thanks also for the advice.
