Re: Wood free construction?
Hey guys, I know its not exactly late 90's but this boat definitely meets many of my other requirements - 1995 STINGRAY 606ZP. This boat looks to be in superb condition, is within $200 of the Nada guidelines for pricing, and has all the specifics that my wife and I are looking for.
Anyone know if it might be wood free? I read a review which mentioned untreated plywood used in the gunwales (I'm assuming for the bolster pads) but based on the pictures, the deck itself looks like fiberglass. I read a review of a 1996 model which used all fiberglass, foam-filled stringers, and I know the 2000 Stingray LS has an all fiberglass deck.
The reason I'm so dead-set on wood free is that my current boat, which I love, has a soft deck. Upon further inspection, looks like several of the stringers are rotted as well. I just can't bring myself to put another $1,000 into a boat that I bought for $2500 two years ago, which at best would be worth only $3,000 after the repairs are completed- the ROI just isn't there. Although I know that a wood boat can be taken care of well enough to last years, my current one was not and I just don't want to run that risk again.
Thanks!
