Wood under engine mounts

I will be attempting to remove the engine mounts on the 1987 bayliner contessa (OMC cobra 5.7).
I noticed that there are very thin peaces of wood under the engine mount, maybe plywood. One is coming apart and the other seems to be ok because it has been covered with resin.
So is it a better idea to coat the wood with resin vs leaving the wood as is under the engine mounts?

I think the best method is to shim till the alignment is on, then measure how thick they are. Get some aluminum plate of that thickness, secure it down and then you are good. No more rotted wood.

I had trouble uploading the photos even after being less than 2MB. So here is the link to what I am looking at.
Also the engine has to come down, it is too high.

they used shims because they couldn`t loosen the motor mount nuts, replace the mounts and do it the right way

I have water coming from the engine door. When it rains water goes through the various screws on the door. That side is also the side of the water intake. Maybe there was a leak from there dripping at some point. Not sure.
Fixing the rain water from the door has always been on my to do list...
also rust took out one of the door bracket where the hydraulic arm is.

Wow, looks like a salty from my point of view. Replacement at this point would be the right thing to do.

If I can get them out i plan to refurbish them and use stainless steel bolts. I couldn’t find any new mounts online. Only used ones.
If you know a source for new ones feel free to share. Thanks.

Volvo Penta used the same mounts on a number of their engines...
