Re: Worlds toughest job

I am calling BS on this. I work full time, travel for work, do laundry, food shop, meal plan, cook, keep up a 100 year old house and work almost every weekend. Stay at home moms have it easy. Most of the ones I know complain about how hard it is after their 2nd glass of white wine on a Tuesday afternoon with the other stay at home moms.

I love how the stay at home mom crowd pretends that I go to work and its some kind of vacation. I socialize all day, go out for lunch, hit the bar on the way home for happy hour all the time my wife is stuck at home working her butt off. In reality from what I have seen and what my friends who have have the wifes that stay at home they have play dates, takes naps when the kid takes naps, watches GMA followed by Kelly and Michel then finishes the morning TV routieen with Rachel Ray, cleans 1/2 the house and leaves the other 1/2 of the house to the husband to deal with after work, makes him run out 2 times a night for something like dish soap, oh and that 1/2 of the house work that is left for the husband does not include changing the oil, fixing the leaking roof or doing lawn work every weekend.

This is a crock. Im not buying in to it. June Cleaver does not exist any more.

I'm the youngest of 4. I was told by an aunt that when my mother came home from the hospital with me (back then I think you stayed 3 days) - she was faced with dirty laundry piled on the washer and a sink full of dirty dishes (no mechanical dishwasher back then).
My wife claims I take after my father....

I didnt get up on the wrong side of the bed, all I am saying is its a farce. Everyone I know with a full time stay at home wife taking care of the kid still passes off pleanty of work to their husbands even though they have been at work all day, they want you to believe that they are migrant mother or some other non realistic representation of what their life actually is.

Maybe in your circle, but, you can't lump all stay at home moms in the same basket. There is no doubt some, just like some fathers, are slugs(for a lack of a better term), but at the same time there are plenty moms who are stellar at what they do and deserve a huge amount of praise.......

I can't believe a thread that was meant to honor moms has turned into a bashing instead......

Re: Worlds toughest job

Actually the funnier one and accurate rebuttle to that Youtube video is Bill Burrs (the Comedian) version called 'the most difficult job on the planet'.....check it out after the first video.
As he said, 'any job you can do in your pajamas is not all that tough'.....LOL
or 'its not like they are getting blacklung from that job'....
Anyhow, its played up to extremes these days but like any job or responsibility its more about how you manage it.
Also....its a choice, and if you can't stand the heat...stay out of the kitchen and most certainly....don't complain about the choice.
Some mothers have a good take on the whole deal....and a lot are completely lost and would be better suited as Aunts, not mothers...just like a lot of Dads (and I know a few) would make better Uncles than fathers.
My two bits.

Ya right!, I am wearing my PJ's right now and putting tile up in the bathroom, so I beg to differ!

Its just not my circle, co-workers have the same issues and complain about the same thing. Look at it this way. Videos like this give people the ability to claim dues where they are not earned. Its like some of the guys I know that went to Iraq or Afganistan. They want you to think they were combat vets when all they really did was work in the store on base that sold cookies and Red Bull. Its not the same thing...
