Title tells it all. I've got a chance to pick up a 1989 Force 150 that has been completely rebuilt from the powerhead to the prop and carries a 2 year parts and labor warranty.

Worth $2,500 or no?

Double ouch! How desperate are you? That year had the small bore --3.3125 and small venturi carbs--1 5/16 diameter. While the engine is nice, I don't think it is $2,500 nice. -- Even though the two year parts and labor warranty is tempting.

Offer $1000 with no warranty- it probably won't break anyways.

The fact of the matter is...it's an 89 and it's a Force rebuilt or not. Dont get me wrong I love my force..but I wouldnt pay over 1250 for it. Sounds like a dealer "deal".

interesting question,
playing the Devils advocate..
what is a motor the same age/Hp worth, not one that has been "completely rebuilt" from top to bottom,
how much is a "complete rebuild" worth AND exactly what has been done,
has every ignition/fuel/electrical/gearbox system thingee been replaced?

at ~ one hundred bucks per hour...plus consumables, of course..the parts and labour "warranty" doesn't sound too bad, provided it's worth the paper it's written on,

at the end of the day, it's still a quite a few dollars for a 23 yr old donk that has probably had some water through those corroded ( probably ) passageways,
too dear for me

A 2 year warranty on a 150/89 that's pretty good.
If your gonna use it a lot I'd say go for it.
Just what does it cover??I bought a used boat with a warranty.
Turns out it was a 50/50 warranty.
I pay 1/2 of parts and labor.
