Re: WOT RPM Question

Yes, It must be a jack plate. It is currently as low as possible. Does this mean that I don't need the lifter ring? It appears that I could loosen the bolts, stand a short 2 x 8 on a floor jack under the jack plate, raise it, adjust the threaded height stops, tighten, and be done. Heres a pic of the motor position if any of ya'll have any opinions as to its current heigth and if this is worth doing. About an inch for starters?? Thank to all of you again for taking time out to be helpful.

Re: WOT RPM Question

I'm really getting irritated with photobucket. I have reduced the size of every image I've posted as per the rules but they keep coming up big. Sorry

Re: WOT RPM Question

Looks like a Bob's manual plate or a copy. Good plate. Yep, loosen the 4 bolts on the sides, loosen the bottom nut on the threaded rod. Now screw down the top nut on each side and it'll raise up. Just make sure you raise it equal on each side.

Got it, no jack neccessary. I'll try it out before I go out next time. Do you reccomend any type of water press gauge and what amount of pressure is good?

Re: WOT RPM Question

Use the BRP gauge. Idle will be around 3-5 and at wot it'll be over 20. Probably 25-30 depending on which water pump kit you use.

Re: WOT RPM Question

Not really sure what kit that is but there are several styles from BRP. Most start with 175xxx numbers. Just a simple 0-30 lb gauge. About $70-78.

Where did you find that kit?

Re: WOT RPM Question

I typed BRP Water Pr Kit into yahoo and it took me to boats.net. They sell the gauges here at iboats where I buy most of my accessories, but I was't sure if I needed a gauge, or a kit.

Re: WOT RPM Question

I wouldn't order a kit for an E-Tec, not really sure what the difference is but I'd go with the one for the motor I was working on. It may work, I'm not sure.

Re: WOT RPM Question

The teleflex kits work great - I've used them on two different Johnson motors and they've been fine. You can probably find a gauge to match your current gauges too. Installation is generally very simple.

Thanks for all the help, I'll get right on the motor height and then install the gauge here in the next month(money needed other places right now) and let ya'll know how it went.
