1444 g3 jon boat, 9.8 tohatsu, short shaft, 4 stroke. with 1 guy i run@5400-5500 rpm, 18-19mph. when i have 2 guys in the rig i run @4500-4600 rpm,9.9 mph. gps checked, tiny tach. my question, should i go to a different size prop?i have the stock prop. i have tried different trim settings with 1 guy in the boat, i have moved my buddy around the boat and seen a small increase in top end.am i doing as good as can be expected. it sure would be nice to cruise along about 15 mph w/ 2 guys. opinions, advice welcome.

As suggested a 1" drop seems about right.I would shoot for the max rated rpm with a light load. You might try raising the motor vertically.
Just add 1/4" sticks to the top of the transom. To a point just before venting(cavitation) becomes a problem.Just be sure clamps have a good grip and it pumps water.Sticks are just to set the height until you tighten the clamps. It may get a slight improvement in hole shot and top end.
It does seem you could do a little better with one aboard. Unless your pretty heavy.About 20 mph with a light reasonably fast boat.A flat bottom usually gets up on the water fairly easy We had a flat bottom 12ft steel boat
with a 5 Gale it would plane within about 50 ft and run close to 12 mph with a 180 pounder in the middle seat and a tiller extension.
