I have a 1993 60HP Johnson thats supposed to be turning 6000 RPM at WOT. If my tach is reading correctly (it may not be) I'm getting 5000 RPM on the nose. Boat performance is fine. If its only turning 5000 RPM am I lugging the motor?
Have you checked the tach setting? Should be set on 6 pulse.<br /><br />If the pulse setting is correct, see if you can verify the rpm, maybe with a timing light with a tach function.<br /><br />If indeed your turning only 5K, yes, your lugging the engine. A change in set up or even a prop change or both may help.
