My Mercruiser manual states that the engines should be run at 75% full power. How long can you run at WOT before potentially causing a problem? Should I periodically run at WOT to monitor any temperature increase? I was told that increasing engine temperature at WOT is sign that the risers need to be changed. Is this true?

3000-3500 is just fine most of the time. If you get on it every once and a while and run it at wot for a little while won't hurt nothing.

If the temp gets to 190 than you know your getting way to hot and over 190 back off the throttle and head back in than you know you have a problem.

If it ever hits 200 shut her off let her cool off open the engine hatch. And when she cools off limp back in slow.
