Hello. I got a 25ft pursuit with an mercruiser alpha one gen one outdrive. Mechanic just installed a rebuilt engine which runs great. One problem is a water leak close to the y Pipe. Only leak when engine is running even on muffs. It wasnt leaking before the block replacement. He also service the outdrive bellows.. he didnt touch the ypipe he said. Could the leak be the ypipe or one of the orings in the outdrive? Here is a video clip.

that is the water inlet fitting, has nothing to do with the Y pipe. clamp loose or split hose or clamp tightened way to much and kinked the plastic fitting

Is it part of the outdrive? Water is only leaking if the engine is running. Is the water intake hose you are talking about? The leak is next to the ypipe bolt.

Assuming this is a 1983 to 1990 Alpha, I don't know what that bolt is used for.

You sure this is a Alpha drive?

It where cooling water is feed through transom housing up to the engine there is a plastic 45 ish deg elbow on the transom housing that is what the hose attaches to . Could be the plastic fitting cracked gasket leaking or hose split as previously outlined need to get in close while running or use a scope camera on your phone

shouldn’t be a big deal to take care of just hard to get on there

Check to see if it coming in from a hole directly under the inmputshaft.
If yes ,the water inlet O ring is damaged /dislodges and water is being forced into the main bellow

yeah, I'm pretty sure its an alpha drive. That bolt with the red arrow is one of the ypipe bolt mating it to the gimbal housing. Could it also be the outdrive gasket?

In that area I don't see any way of fixing it prior to removing the motor.
The motor has to come out if:
The O ring is the issue
The Y pipe is the issue
The bolts are loose (can not get to all of them)
The transom assembly
