I have aquired a '65 evinrude Yachtwin 3hp.(2 cyl, longshaft).I'am having problems getting it started and keeping it running. The motor was frozen.I freed it up.First off,the compression was low(50lbs each cyl) so I replaced the piston rings (were stuck).Compression is still about 50 lbs after new rings.Do the cylinders need to be honed or de-glazed?
The motor has many new parts installed including the following.Carb re-build kit,new coils/points/condensors,piston rings, sparkplugs, head gasket, impeller, fuel line.
The motor has great blue spark. It will fire for a second or two then stop, but still very hard to start. It's got fuel, spark, compression is questionable. This motor was totally dis-assembled/cleaned internally/de-carbonized pistons, etc.
Any idea's are greatly appreciated.
