Regular Unleaded $1.97 ?
Just think. If Uncle Sam didn't get his cut, that would be $1.57 per gal!
What i mean is, the end-consumer price is irrelevant. The gov gets the same, steady amount.
Where is their incentive to keep the price down?

$82.5 Liter * 3.8 in a gal = $3.19

Can $3.19 * .84 (todays conv rate) = 2.67 US

From the biggest petrol producing Provence in Canada.

WoW! That's atrocious, HI.
As i posted, we are averaging 40cents per gallon, (or at present 33% in Florida), for combined fed and state taxes.
In comparison, the petrochemical companies who find, recover, ship, refine, and retail the finished product only get an averaged 10cents per gallon!

What is the breakdown in Canada? It looks like it may actually be a higher cut going to the government there!?

Looks like the graph says Europes gas costs are due to their own governments obscene tax policies.

Simply different priorities, KaGee. Perhaps Europe wants to reduce their dependence on mideatstern oil, reduce consumption, expand efficient public transportation.

We, OTOH, seem to want to ignore public transportation and conservation in favor of purchasing Islamic controlled oil and funding our enemies. I don't know that is what we are trying to do, of course, but the evidence clearly suggests it.

EVERYBODY seems to forget that oil is not just fuel!

Ever hear of PLASTIC?

Let's see...the keys you type on for this forum...the wrap on your meat sitting on its styro plate...What your BOAT is made of, if it's 'glass...clothing/carpets/countertops/car parts/juiceboxes/ink/paint/medicine/cleaners/pens/insulation/paving/on and on and on and on...

IT AIN'T JUST THE GAS! (or the diesel)

Jeez, PW2, it is the wasteful side of the tax and spend story pure and simple. Call a spade a spade. What policy(ies) in the UK can you point to that uses up that kind of change? Don't get sucked into public trans, they are as dependent on the auto as we are. Yes, they get a side benefit of comsumption limits, but that was NOT the intent. Let's be honest here. They just wanted/wasted mo money . . .

I will admit one thing in the interest of honesty: their motorways are better than our freeways, but nowhere near 1000% better . . . ;)
