Hello,

I have a 2000 Yam 225 ox66. Once the motor warms up, I hear a faint, high pitched squeel that (this is the best example i can give) sounds like dry fan/ac belts on a car. I've noticed that the noise does change pitch sligtly with an increase in rpms. It makes this noise in forward, reverse, and neutral positions w/ only change in pitch relating to change in rpms. I can hear the noise from 7k rpms until the motor sound drowns it out.

This motor has approx 400 hours. The impellor was changed in March--thermostats in May. The motor was running perfectly until i had the impellor changed--then it would run hot at idle. Thats when i took it back to the dealer and they changed the t-stats--one was very corroded. Since then, it ran flawlessly--until now. It still runs strong throughout the RPM range--no effect on performance noticeable.

A dealer looked at it--but we couldn't hear the sound at the shop. We even muffled the prop w/ a towel, but still the sound isn't loud enough to hear out of the water. He did perform a compression check, checked for gasket leaks around the block, and says he can do no more w/o an on the water test...

any ideas?
