Bought new motor, which started to leak transmission oil after 10 hours, caused by a broken seal within the waterpump. Service said that there will be oil in the exhaust for some time, because the seal had broken and some oil was left in the cooling channels. I have run the motor now for over 40 hours and there is still this oil problem as I turn on the engine, it seems that the oil gathers in the bottom of the motor?s cooling system as it is not used for a while and as it gets started it throws the oil out. After its been used for a while , like one hour or so, it dosen?t give any oil, but after not using it for couple of hours this happen again.
Has anybody expirienced this ? How long can this last, it?s quite embarassing as the sea is covered with oil as it start my engine.

Re: Yamaha 100 hp 4-S oil leak

Is this a Yamaha dealer? If so, I would find another dealer...that is just a bunch of crap you've been fed....oil should have all been gone after a couple or so hrs....you don't sound very mechanical(transmission??) but you should drain the lower unit oil and see if it has any "milk" in it(water), cause usually if oil gets out, water can get in(usually) when the unit cools off it draws the water in, heats up, oil out....and why didn't the dealer remove the excess oil with degreaser like we do?
