Hello all boaters,
Please help if possible. I have a 1999 yamaha 115 2stroke on a 19' key west cc. Starting on the seasons first trip noticed engine running a bit rough at low rpm (no wake speed). Once opening throttle up to cruising speed it runs strong. Then once back to low rpms it is rough and recently began to stall. It also will bog down and delay acceleration while throtteling up, and suddenly takes off. Please if anyone has a clue about this I would greatly appreciate any and all advise. Thanks

Re: yamaha 115 2 stroke problem

My 2001 115 yamaha would run PERFECT at every throttle position other then idle. At idle it would cough or sneeze and stall. I purchased the repair manual and rebuilt the carbs (not that difficult) and found my idle jets were clogged. I cleaned them with some compressed air and she runs like a new motor. I would suggest you rebuild the carbs. I can tell you I was very nervous about the job but it wasent that hard.

Good luck
