Searching for 2 day's now on this problem, anyways yesterday I was pulling a tube and I put the engine in idle. As I was in cruising in idle towards the person after falling off I quickly put the boat in reverse, tangling the rope in the prop and killing the engine. All electrics worked but engine wouldn't turn over. Just clicking. Without have any knowledge of that boat (dad just bought it) I looked over all fuses, which seemed fine, and finally I took the key out put the engine in drive and rotated the prop hoping it was a timing issue? The engine did start after about 40 minutes stuck out there. But soon after while docking the boat I put the engine in reverse with the same outcome. This engine will not start or turnover. Are there any overload protection devices I'm unaware of? Thanks in advance, Rob

Check the neutral start switch in the controller, MCG. Sounds like it is not making reliable contact coming out of REV.

Good luck. :)

Is there any way to bypass the neutral interlock, without taking the whole throttle assembly apart?

I think the interlock is actually on the engine itself although not 100 percent sure. Either way, I would definitely NOT recommend disabling (unless you were just troubleshooting) especially on a boat used by several family members.
