Hi all,

I have a 1987 Yamaha 150 HP outboard. I also purchased the Yamaha service manual from Yamaha in order to do some routine maintenance myself. The section in the manual that illustrates lubrication points for various parts of the engine is very detailed, and very small and does not clearly indicate where the Zerk fittings for pivot points are located. I found the Zerks for the steering tube and ram, but there must be others. Is there another Yamaha manual, like a users manual that has a more clear illustration of where they are located?? Also, the manual was obviously written by a Japanese person because alot of the technical information is not exactly translated into english text correctly. Some of it is kind of funny!!

Can I use a standard American grease gun with standard Zerk nozzles to do this lubrication? Thanks in advance for your replies!!!

Ed G.

Re: Yamaha 150 HP Grease Fittings

hello
one is on the shift linkage on the shift shaft just below the bottom carb abd faces stbd. two, some had 3, are on the front of the tilt tube. cant remember that far back but there may be two more on the back side of the tube on the port and stbd brackats. trim to full up to access. another is on the swivel tube housing on the stbd side about half way up. apply a coat of grease to the tips of the trim rams as well. grease the shift slide as well.
janglish is difficult sometimes but not impossible :)
