yamaha 1988 pro 50

I took the motor off my boat and have it on a stand. I have a buyer comming to look at it. Will I be able to start it with out hooking up the system gauges? I want to start it on the muffs, just using the controls and battery cables

I do not see why it would not run without gauges lots of motors never have any hooked up to start with.
