Hi, I have a Yamaha 200 hpdi 2005-z200txrd ignition problem that I was wondering if someone could help me with. The motor has 100 hours of use, s.n.1019878.

The motor cranks and starts on all 6 cylinders, as soon as I stop cranking, the motor immediately runs poorly and only fires on cylinders 1, 4 and 5. It balks and hesitates but will run.

I replaced the sparkplugs, didnt help.

I was told it was a bad trigger, replaced it new and still didnt help.

I checkd all wires, pulled spark plug wires and checked resistance and all that seemed good.

The stator was rusty, I cleaned it and reinstalled it...it could be the stator, but does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Yamaha 200 hpdi ignition problem

that motor uses a TCI ign system.
has nothing to do with the stator.
with the key on engine off check the ign coil primary voltage for 12V.
that engine starts on all six then drops 2 and 3 when in nuetral.
check primary volyage when running with a DVA meter or secondary ign voltage with a Kv tester.
