Yamaha 2005 f150 lower unit the two seals behind the prop I understand it?s the next bearing. Will I need a puller to get the bearing housing out? Or just a slid hammer? that?s as far as i need to go into it. I just need to be prepared since the boat is in Costa Rica and I?m flying down Sat. No tools or a shop down there for assistance.

go by any evinrude BRP dealer, buy the puller legs for the V4 V6 gearcase.
have them grind another 1/4 inch or so clearence on the tapered side.
they will know what ya mean. then get a standard harmonic balancer puller from sears or any auto parts store.

you will need both propshaft seals and the carrier oring at a minimum, taking an extra claw nut would be good. most the time I have to drill 3 holes in the original and take it out in pieces for saltwater use.
if you use the slide hammer attachment on the prop shaft then shift shaft removal will be required so add the shift shaft seal and housing oring to your parts list.
may as well take 2 drive shaft seals and the driveshaft bearing housing oring as well.
ALWAYS measure the depth of the original seals BEFORE removing unless you have the yamaha seal installer tools.
I cant wait to get back to Venezeula to do some work.
been almost 2 years.

ok down here in costa rica :confused:I dont believe there is anything wrong with the gear or bearings. at idle in gear it makes a clicking noise as soon as you take it off idle in forward or reverse the noise goes completely away. no metal at all on the magnet.

sounds like prop chatter or someone has incorrectly installed the drive shaft collar.
