Re: Yamaha 225 four stroke r/pm Problem

you will need to use the lap top or at least the winky blinky diagnostic lamp to pull any codes. I have not seen any tach codes on products here.
a code 28 is an incorrect shift position switch but will have no affect on the engine above 3000RPM. its usually set by reving the engine in netural. run it with the airbox removed while its having problems. install a high pressure fuel gauge on the VST. if fuel pressure holds while the RPM is missing squirt gas directly down each airhorn. the ones that pick up will be the problem ones. another thing on this motor is its imperative to have clean and tight battery connections. look at the regulator driver. its the device with a big heat sink mounted on the lower cowl on the port side. does it have blue or gray connectors?
if its grey there is an update/recall.
let me make sure I understand one thing.
yopu say while its having a problem you turn the key to the stop position and it will continue to run ?
am I correct in my understanding of your post ?
