Yamaha 225 fuel starvation

My 1998 Yamaha 225 runs fine up to about 3500 RPM, then motor stops. I have an in-line manual, bulb-type primer pump between fuel tanks and filter. The bulb pump collapses when engine is run for a few minutes at high RPM, indicating fuel is not getting to the pump in sufficient quantity. I have disassembled fuel selector valves, blown out gas lines and fuel tank vent lines but still no success in solving problem. Any suggestions?

Re: Yamaha 225 fuel starvation

hello
check trhe anti-siphon valve at the fuel with- drawl tube. if its clear and not stuck the remove the draw tube from the tank. some had a filter screen in the tube. dumbest thing I ever saw but its made me a small pile of change over trhe years.
anyway if the fuel system primer is sucking flat then you have a definate restriction between the bulb and the gasoline in the tank. could be the bulb but I doubt it. more likely the anti-siphon valve or the draw tube has a screen. some tubes actually thread into the 90 degree tqank adaptor and that is where the screen will be.
good luck and dont keep running the motor like this. makes pistons very unhappy

Thanks, rodbolt, that seems like a logical solution. I'll give it a try. I appreciate your help.
