I have no spark at all while cranking. Motor ran 1 week ago and was firing on only 3 cylinders. Swapped CDI assemblies with 2nd motor - same 3 firing and 3 not firing on 2nd motor so we figured it was identified and then swapped back. A couple days later, no spark at all on 1st motor??? Crank sensor checks out, pulsor coil checks out, more than 9 volts (12.5 reading)from the yellow wire going into YMIS, ground leads seem to all check out, kill switch has been disconnected since I bought it - never had an issue, knock sensor checks, charge coil checks, but the lighting coil does not check out with book. Book says 24 between green leads of the coil - I read zero??? Do you know if the lighting coil would cause no fire to all plugs???

PS. Just performed same checks on working motor #2 and found same results on lighting coil. Must be something else....

Re: Yamaha 225 v6excelxg

have you tried the emergency bybass? hook the A and B connectors together.
are you using a peak reading meter like a stevens CD-77 or at least a DVA adapter.
what is the output voltage of the puler coils, low speed charge coil ?
what is the CDI output voltage both loaded and unloaded.
also try for spark with the white wire dissconected from the CDI.
on the lighting coil, needs to be checked loded at about 1500 RPM, should see about 13 V.
lighting coil supplies AC current to the rectifier for battery charging.
with the rotor not turning the stator wount have any output.

Re: Yamaha 225 v6excelxg

I had a problem with an excel I used to have. I only had spark on one side of engine. Changed the CDI and problem was fixed. Search for my posts Ray was able to figure it out.
