I have a yamaha 225 saltwater that i bought used from a dealer after he installed the motor i took it for a test run and after about 5 mins it seemed to go into safe mode. I took it back to the shop were the tech checked it out and could not seem to find anything, but after unpluging things he found the the motor would run fine if the TPS was unpluged he seems to think because the oil tank has been removed(and were mixing the gas 50:1) it has something to do with this problem. I don't know enough about this motor to know if that is right or not any help would be great.

Re: yamaha 225

find a real tech.
when the TPS is unplugged the engine defaults to fixed timing and fixed injection and will idle higher than normal.
has nothing to do with pre-mixing.
look for electrical and fuel certificates on the wall from Yamaha school if they dont have them run away.
