yamaha 25 hp-4 stroke

I purchase a used 25 h.p.-4 stroke Yamaha and it ran great two weeks ago, but this past saturday, when i put the boat in the water, just a trinke of water was flowing out the exist on the water pump. I keep an eye on it for over two miles and the motor did get hot. I notice water was shooting out two holes on upper part of the foot. The guys at the bait shop, where we drink coffee said it was just stopped up. How do I clean it. I have owned several motors but never a 4 stroke.
