Yamaha 25DM cutting out.

Hi Folks. New to forum and was wondering if anyone can help. I have a 25hp Yamaha 25DM 2 stroke. Went out the other day and for the first time it would not start. Took it ashore,drained filter and carb, hooked it up to water tank etc started no problem. Put it back on boat, 300m out and engine cut out. No warning , spluttering etc. Totally dead and would not start again. Got it ashore and hooked up again, Guess what, Started no problem. Left it in tank and started it every day for four days and let it idle, No problems until today, started it no problem and let it idle until it cut out again, no warning or anything, just died and would not start again. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Test for fire when not starting. Check kill switch if no fire.

Thanks for that. There doesnt seem to be a spark but it is hard to see while pulling with one hand. Can i disconnect the kill switch and try that?
