I need some of your expert help again. I am looking at buying a boat package that has a 2000ish yamaha 30hp precision blend on it. The owner claims it's in great shape but revealed that if you idle it for a while as in trolling, it will load up and it won't rev up/ clean out for a minute, then you can fly away. This seems a little strange to me. I have a yamaha 15 2 stroker that doesn't do this. He says it doesn't smoke excessively at idle and that the precision blend system works well. I'm guessing the motor has 300 hours on it. It looks to be in good condition physically, but i've only gotten pictures. I have to drive 4 hours to look at it. Here's a pic. Can anyone verify the year? Do you think the oil injection system needs work? Thanks

Re: Yamaha 30hp precision blend loads up after trolling

It should be able to idle or troll without this loading up issue. Could be a bad fuel pump diaphragm causing a very rich mixture on one cylinder. Remove fuel pump, leave fuel lines attached, pump primer bulb several times, if gas comes out of hole in back of pump then it's bad, easy and fairly cheap($50) to replace. Check your spark plugs to see if one or more is wet-fouled with fuel. Also check your cooling system for normal operating temperature range, if motor never really gets warmed up then it could cause loading up. Good Luck!

Thanks so much for the info. Anyone have any idea on what year this motor might be? Are they as bulletproof as the other small 2 strokes like the 15 and 25hp models? Thanks
