I recently purchased an 89 Yamaha 40ELF with precision blend. Previous owner told me that they had disconnected the precision blend system and to mix the oil and gas in the tank.
I have been running the boat for the last two weeks with 50/1 premix with no problems until the other day when the alarm went off and the engine would not operate at higher rpm. Upon checking under the cowl I noticed that the previously full oil tank was now near empty. Filled the tank and the engine returned to running fine...obviously the precision blend system is working.
but now I'm wondering just how well.
Is there a way to check the system?
I'm a bit hesitant to fill the fuel tank with straight gas.
