I've got a 24 ft pontoon powered by a 1989-90 (not sure which) Yamaha 40 hp outboard. A couple of questions:
1) I replaced the impeller 2 yrs ago. At that time, it had a steady stream of water out of the back. It is now reduced to what I can best describe as "spitting" water instead of a stream. I know that the impeller needs replaced but could this also affect horsepower? It seems that the motor doesn't run as strong as last year.
2) When the boat was re-decked prior to my purchase, the guages weren't hooked back up. Is most of the wiring I need coming from the side mount control box? There are a lot of wires just dangling that I'm sure go somewhere. Any help on how the box and motor relate is appreciated. Thanks.
