Newbie Question. Why would my 1989 Pro50 Yamaha run but not idle? Background: Had carbs cleaned recently at a Yamaha Service Center (don't really know how they were cleaned). Boat initially ran good. A few days later I needed to replace the neutral switch (broken) and buzzer (non-functional) in the 703 remote control.
The engine cranks fine and initially goes to about 1500 RPM for about 12-15 seconds(it always has) and then normally settles down to about 800-850 or so for idle. Now it just dies after this 15 second period. However, if you advance the throttle before the 15 seconds is up, you can ride all day, until you slow down and put it back in neutral, then it dies.
Could I have done something in the remote control to cause this or is it just coincidence? Where should I start looking? Thanks,
