Here's what I have. The numbers on the tag read, 5SK,,,,6E3-S,,,,138644. Also, where can I get spray cans of matching paint and new decals. I believe this also has the charging system on it. Nice little motor. And runs great. The person who owned it before me ran it in salt water, but flushed it everytime when done and some of the paint is chipping off.
Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Yamaha 5hp ID and questions.

That's a 1980 5hp engine. I used to run the Mariner version of that engine in salt. It shed it's paint too. But it always started and ran very well. Unfortunetly, it was recently stolen. :(

You should be able to get touch up paint in a spray can from any yamaha dealer. Tempo makes one, so anyone who sells Tempo paints should be able to sell you a match. Mask off and sand out the area. Wash it down with a 50/50 solution of vinager and water. Then prime with (tempo) zinc chromate primer (if available) or zinc phosphate primer. Then topcoat with the colourmatch.

Good luck!
