Yamaha 80hp trim switch not working right

I have a 1997 Yamaha C80TLRV 80 hp. The trim switches at the bow and throttle will trim the motor up but not down. The switch mounted on the outboard itself operates properly both up and down. I tested the switch at the bow and it is not broken. Since the relays appear to be operating properly and the motor travels full direction each way with the ouboard switch, I assume I have a break in the down trim wire somewhere. Does this sound right? Does the outboard switch use the same relays as the bow and throttle switch? I assume so but I don't know. I'm new the boating world so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes same relays. Probably a bad connection(corrosion), but could be a bad wire. Take apart connectors and clean and test.

Ok. Thanks for the info on the relays. I want to run a wire direct from the bow switch to where it connects back at the engine just to confirm a disconnect between switch to the end of the run on the outboard. However, I'm having a hard time tracing the factory wire back to where it connects in the motor. It appears to go into the relay molding right by where the green motor lead connects to the relay. Is there a terminal behind the relay or am I totally looking in the wrong area?
