hi
can anyone help i have got a yamaha 90hp autolube outboard about late 80`s early 90`s.
going fine one day the next we took it out the inside of the boat got filled with water due to wave and the boat being stuck on the beach, got all the water out eventualy started the boat put it back on the trailer,
the following week we went out again dropped it in pulled away warm the engine up then going round at full throttle after about 3 minutes the revs cut right down and buzzer was coming from the control box by the steering wheel ,went to full throttle it and the engine was staying at low revs and shuddering after 3-4 minutes the buzzer stopped and we could go again at full revs then after 3-4 mins same thing happened again it was like all day so we packed up and went home has anyone had this experience.
any help would be appreciated.

It could be the sensor in the motor oil tank

Re: yamaha 90hp full throttle problem

could be an overheat due to a bad pressure control valve,t-stat or water pump. if it was oil related and you have the digital tach you will see the oil icon flashing or arrows or lights.
could be a oil level switch, could just be low engine oil level. could be the slice in the gray wire behind the electronics panel but normally you just get RPM reduction.
the CDI is seeing a signal that either oil level is critically low or engine temp is critically high and is trying to protect itself.

hi
the oil tank is almost full, could it be the oil sensor or the overheat sensor how can i check or test them to see if it is one before replacing them.
