Yamaha C115 - 99 submerged in salt water

The engine went under and since I have done a bunch of things but still not quite there I was wondering if somebody can give me some some insight.

Since the immersion ever thing was washed with fresh water, the gas has been changed, new filter, new spark plugs, carburetors and gas lines cleaned, new seals for the carbs, gas pump taken apart and cleaned, cleaned all electrical connexions and re connected everything.

The engine starts right up, idles good. The rpm gauge is not working but it sounds accurate. Now when I take her for a spin it doesn't go, it moves but it doesn't get up to a plane, not even near. If i was going to guess I would think it has to do with the gas supply, it is almost as if I was riding with the choke half pull.

took the carbs for 3rd time apart and still finding some residue of water but I don't know where it is deposited because I either cleaned or isolated everything. Were is the water coming from? I am using an external gas tank
to make sure.

I need some pointers, please don't know what else to do.

Change your spark plugs.If your fuel system had water,it often burns plugs out.But also be sure you have spark to all plugs.Dont know what seals in carbs you changed,but hopefully you know all hoses on the engine have been flushed of water.to me it souds like your droping a cyl.Was there 12 volt power to the eng when it sank,or was battery turned off.If power was on,you may have burned out an elec.component.Thereby causing some dead cyl.Also.I suggest you remove the flywheel to be sure no residual water is under,especially if saltwater.Also,the starter may also get filled with water which can become trouble.

Thank you Mikesea. Yes I did the starter too, took it apart and cleaned and oiled it. the engine wasn't running or in contact. I don't have new plugs but i am using a spare set from the last overhaul, i don't think this is the problem. tomorrow I am going to get new plugs just in case.

I guess the last thing is to take the carbs to get them rebuilt. ???

Do a spark test.If the engine ran ok prior to sub.and you drained and cleaned carbs,Im thinking you may have a spark problem.The carbs arent difficult to do yourself.if you got this far,you can do them.Did the whole boat go down.Im curious ,because the tach(rpm guage)not working may be an indication of a stator problem.You may not be hitting on all cylinders.The engine can appear to be running ok at idle,but may have poor or no spark on a cyl or more.Thats why I like to pull the flywheel and spray down with cleaner and compressed air.Hopefully someone else will jump in here.

The whole boat went under yes. Didn't remove the flywhell but the carbs were taken a part, cleaned and blowed.
I am not that handy I think. Not sure what I am going to find under the flywheel and besides I don't have the right tools.
I am going to find a mechanic tomorrow.
