Yamaha F115 Connection to Garmin 740s

I have a 2004 Yamaha F115 with the standard round digital gauges and a Garmin 740s with no existing NMEA network. How can I connect the engine to the 740 with NMEA to provide fuel usage information? I don't have experience with NMEA so please dumb it down a little. Here is a picture of my dash so you can confirm the type of gauges.

I dont think the F115 was NEMA2K compatable until 2006 or maybe late 2005.

Lowrance literature at

suggests the era of Yamaha outboard engines with NMEA-2000 ports began at the earliest in Model Year 2006 for selected models.
