Hi,

I am fairly new to boating so my knowledge on outboard motors is very limited.

We were out on our Cabin Cruiser this afternoon and had idled the engine for a while before setting off without any problems.

Approximately 10 minutes into our journey the outboard started to misfire when using the throttle.

A red light was flashing on the console and a buzzer sounded before the engine eventually cut out.

We managed to restart the engine shortly after and limped back to the Marina despite it cutting out several times more.

We cleaned out the water inlet vents at the bottom of the propshaft and it ran fine again in idle back at the mooring.

The oil was checked and there is plenty in it and the Tell Tale is producing a full steady stream.

Could someone please give some idea as to what the problem might be?

Thanks

Lee
