Yamaha F50TLRW No Power Question??

I have a 1998 Yamaha F50TLRW that idles great but will not run faster that 1/4 throttle under a load. Here are some things I did and found. I took some bad advise and stored it without running the gas out of carbs. I was told if it had the Yamaha Ring Free additive in it you did not need to run the fuel out of the carbs when you store it. I bought more Ring Free and shocked it. I read on the bottle that it is a good idea to change the oil after the shock treatment. Today I was going to change the oil and I check the level and it is up to the top of the dip stick. The box that hold the incoming fuel line and the line to the filter has oil in it, should it? I drained my fuel tank and cleaned it real good. I cleaned the filter and put in new spark plugs and it still will only run about 1/4 throttle. Could oil be getting into the fuel somehow? If there is not something that you guys can think of, I will take it in and have the carbs gone over. I just wanted to eliminate all possibilities first. Thanks everyone. Larry

Re: Yamaha F50TLRW No Power Question??

It seems as if it is carb related. 4 stroke motors have a habit of "making oil" if not pushed hard enough. Consequently with it not reaching max rpms you can be contributing to that problem.
Here is a link to using seafoam as a carb treatment. Follow this and see if it helps. You will only be out the cost of the seafoam, about $8 each at Advance Auto.

Should the box that has the fuel in and fuel out have oil in it? Also, what is actually happening when you say it makes oil when you can't run full throttle? Just learning about all this and I sure appreciate the help. Thanks everyone. Larry

Not sure what box he is talking about. This is a link to a site that explains what happens when 4 stroke motors "make oil". They don.t make oil. The dipstick reading is high and unexplained. This article helps to explain that....
