Yamaha F75 Trim/Tilt Indicator

Hello all. I have noticed previous posts and solutions to a similar problem I have. My trim indicator on a 2004 Yamaha F75 Outboard with a single ram trim motor quit working and is indicating in the full up position. The trim motor system operates just fine. After examining the trim indicator transducer, I discovered the cam arm ring that is mounted onto the steering slide tube cracked and was slipping around the tube itself. It looks like it would be easy to replace. My main questions are; 1. What is this part properly calleld; 2. Where would I be able to order this part and; 3. Would it be able to be spread apart far enough to mount it on the steering tube without dismantling the steering apparatus itself? Thanks in advance for any help and this website is GREAT!!

I don't know if that part is available separately.



tilt trim sensors have a notoriously short life. you might just buy a new one here at Iboats. the labor of replacing the sensor makes it worth the investment.


I believe that the motor mount bracket must be removed to access the tilt sensor. i don't think you can get to the screws, its a little tight.

you might replace the screws with allen head stainless bolts to make it easier next time.

its called a cam.
reference #1 on the midsection parts catalog I think.
the trim senders last a long time if you will spray them with fluid film once in a while.
yes its easy to replace,4 or 5 minutes and a #3 phillibs screwdriver, the sender takes about 20 min with the same tools.
